April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month.
In the United States, one in three women has experienced some type of sexual violence. Sexual assault is any type of sexual activity or contact that you do not consent to. Find out more about sexual assault here.
What if you or someone you know has been sexually assaulted?
Remember, if you have been sexually assaulted, it is not your fault regardless of the circumstances. Call 911 if you are in danger or need medical care. If you can, get away from the person who assaulted you and get to a safe place as fast as you can. You can call the National Sexual Assault Hotline at 800-656-HOPE (4673) to connect with a sexual assault service provider in your area who can direct you to local resources.
