Free At-Home COVID-19 Tests Available

There are many options for Coloradoans to receive free at-home rapid antigen tests. CDPHE’s at-home testing program is distributing free rapid COVID-19 over the counter self-tests directly to people’s homes. The program currently uses Abbott BinaxNOW rapid antigen tests that show results within 15 minutes. Sign up to receive your free tests through CDPHE. There is a new ordering system that requires you to create an account, and demand is very high so it may take up to 3 weeks to receive your test kit in the mail.

Every home in the U.S. is also eligible to order four at-home COVID-19 rapid antigen tests. The tests are completely free, and orders will usually ship in 7-12 days. Sign up for your free test directly from the White House’s testing website, COVIDtests.gov.

Health First Colorado and Child Health Plan Plus (CHP+) will pay for at-home COVID-19 tests for members. You can get free at-home tests only at pharmacies that serve Health First Colorado and CHP+ members. There is no out-of-pocket cost. Health First Colorado and CHP+ will reimburse the pharmacies after members receive the free tests. Pharmacy location information.

If you have purchased at-home rapid antigen tests you may now be eligible for reimbursement through your health insurance provider. For answers to frequently asked questions visit the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services website.

Check with your healthcare provider and insurance company about other options. Learn more from us about At-Home COVID-19 Testing. More information on self-testing can be found on the CDC website. Many Ellume COVID-19 home tests have been recalled, learn more from the FDA announcement

Additional Testing Sites

Low or no-cost testing is available at local health centers and select pharmacies across the state.
